DUNEDIN. 18 NOVEMBER 2024.

We’re ready check out by 10 am and call for supplies for a picnic later. In route, we stop at the Moeraki Boulders, rocks partly buried in the sand. Naturally, there’s a cafe so we buy coffee to warm us up.

Our next port of call is Lanarch Castle. You and I would call it a stately home but here it’s labelled the only castle in New Zealand! The gardens are beautiful and we take advantage of them to enjoy our picnic. Afterwards, we’re able to walk around the house.

Our hotel for the night is the Leviathan in Dunedin. It’s seen better days but is clean and comfortable. The railway station opposite is fabulous and houses a Cobbs and Co restaurant. The food is excellent.
