UPPSALA.
The road is closed where a level crossing used to be so we are diverted back to the motorway. This works to our advantage as we call at the service station. We are able to fill the van with water and the assistant doesn't want any payment.
The guidebook suggest that a call at Sigtuna would be well rewarded and it is correct. It's Sweden's oldest town and retains a number of the wooden structures. Rosie pronounces it one of the best villages we have ever visited.

Back at the van, we enjoy a cup of tea. The ATM in the village was not functioning so we still don't have any local currency. Interestingly, two guys were laying tarmac opposite. The lorry driver delivering the tarmac was able to move his large lorry using a remote control device. This enabled him to line up the delivery to exactly where he wanted it.
On to Uppsala. The satnav wouldn't recognise the street so it took up a couple of attempts to find the park. We find a parking area for tomorrow while Rosie looks for a site for tonight. She likes the sound of one, satnav tells us that we are already there!
We need provisions so we drive off to Lidl about 2 miles away. Upset a local by moving lanes to avoid a bus lane. She flew down the bus lane so she could stare at me. A wave of apology calmed her down and she shot off again.
Find the parkrun start then walked into the town. Now that we have cash we decide to treat ourselves to a beer. £5 per pint still. We sit next to three women and enjoy their company for an hour. One, has travelled with her parents in a motorhome so we had much to talk about. Walk back in the evening sun watching the local students becoming more and more drunk.
