Cracking On To Krakow.

KRAKOW.

Good Friday in Poland. The sun shines and the mood is good as we leave the site and take the back roads towards Krakow. There was a Dutch couple next to us last night. They spent the day before in Krakow and were giving us tips on where to park. Nothing that we didn't know but it's always good to listen.

Traffic is heavy in Gorlice, evidence of a holiday here, too. Once we are through the town the countryside is very pretty. Driving through one village which has several cz's units name, Rosie decides that the Polish language needs to shed a few letters for everyone's sake. I try to observe the speed limits but am overtaken through a village by a large trucker. He must be doing over 40 in a 30 zone. Shortly after, he is pulled over by the police doing a speed check.

We are able to use part of the motorway for free. We pull over at a services just as a bus pulls in. We have to rush to use the services before they do.

We find the park for tomorrow and move on to the site. It turns out to be in a motorhome sales and services unit. £10 buys us a night's accommodation, electricity and water. The bus stops outside the site and £1 return gets us into the town and back later.

Rosie looks around the market whilst Paul has a treatment at the Polonia Wax Cafe, (i.e. a beer ha, ha). Memories of Paul's trip here 10 years' ago with the church in Sale.

The receptionist in the garage had pointed us to a local restaurant, about 100 metres away, which offers local produce. We have zander in a Polish sauce plus boiled potatoes and vegetables. We finish by sharing their hot apple pie. Rosie decides it is a tart rather than a pie and has ground almonds and caramel. Delicious. Add a couple of drinks and we pay £28 including tip.
