GYENESDIAS.
We wake to overcast skies and the prospect of more rain. Rather than heading east, we decide to stay on the site for another day. Interestingly, for an accountant at least, when we paid in euro last night there was no receipt. Today, we paid in forint and receive one.

We get the bikes down and cycle to the lake about 2km away. There is a cold wild and rain in the air. The temperature shows 6 degrees Centigrade at midday. Continue along a very good cycle path into the larger town 5km away, Keszthely. Enjoy a coffee and cake on the outskirts then discover a lovely town centre with a palace

Our camp site is in a old village according to the welcoming sign. What you can't see is the McDonald's on the other side of the roundabout. The old and the new, eh?

We have a choice of masses, tomorrow in the village or tonight back at Keszthely. We decide to go to Budapest tomorrow so opt for tonight's option. Go back on the bikes. We make the locals look twice as we walk into church with our waterproofs on, carrying cycle helmets. It is Palm Sunday so we have the long version of the Passion. No sign of palms in the church, though. The words to the hymns are shown on an overhead screen. Rosie sings along even though she has no idea what the words mean.
