Sloshing Through Slovenia.

KAMNICKA.
We were joined in the car park by a fellow Brit sporting a 2019 plate. Rosie introduced herself and offered any help they might need. That's rich coming from the two most naive motorhomers on the planet.
Paul disturbed a couple of jays whilst recycling the rubbish.
Our first port of call is Udine. We arrive in a very busy car park. We're able to fill up with water but decide against a 2km walk into the town.
Set off for Slovenia. We call at a large Lidl just before the border. Paul risked life and limb to cross the road to collect cash only to find afterwards that there was an underpass.
Buy a vignette on the border, 15 euro for a week. We could have also bought one for Hungary at the same time but decided that we didn't want the clock ticking until we crossed their border.
Heavy rain as we drive through the mountains. We stop at a service station for a drink and the rain continues. However, it all changes as we approach Maribor. The sun comes out and the temperature reaches 19 degrees. We find the site in the grounds of a restaurant. We can stay for free but a meal is required. Walk along the river into Maribor.

We're both impressed with the town. It's a university one with lots of youngsters giving it a vibrant feel. The old and new are well mixed. And, to cap it all, the prices are much more reasonable. A pint and a coffee costs Euro 4.50.

We use the restaurant as suggested. A litre of house white, a salad starter and a gypsy pot roast are the order of the day. The pot roast turns out to be a steak cooked in a sweet ratatouille style sauce. Delicious, but no room for the desert unfortunately. The waiter gives us permission to stay so we can sleep well tonight.
