GRANCONA.
A great night's sleep in the quiet of the villa. We decide to call at the largest town on the island, Iseo, situated at the foot of the lake. It's a little gem. There is a street market of stylish fashion and paintings, a harbour, a couple of piazzas and narrow, cobbled streets whose shops are open.

After an hour, we move on to Verona. Park on the outskirts and walk in. The woman at the parkrun explained to Rosie that all museums can be accessed for only a euro on the first Sunday of the month. We take advantage of this to visit the amphitheatre. Views are great and you get the sense of the excitement and fear that must has greeted the combatants as they entered the arena.

We treat ourselves to an ice cream on the way out. Two scoops and a cornet cost only 2.40 euro. Rosie is in seventh heaven.
Our final journey takes us up the hills to the small hamlet of Grancona. We're the only van in the car park. Rosie strings a washing line between two trees and the sun and wind provide some late drying. We have access to water and free electricity. Unfortunately, the internet is poor, only improved by walking up to the top of the hill. We're accompanied all the way up and by a dog with no collar. She seems oblivious to the traffic and has taken a shine to us. We have to dive into the van to escape her.
