If The Boat Won't Take Us, We'll Walk.

LA ROCHE POSAY.
The French were correct, the water didn't flow! Enjoy breakfast then move on towards a village called Chissau which offers boat trips along the Cher. Just before the turn off we find an aire at St Georges sur Cher which offers free water. The town square is a little gem where we buy croissants with chocolate and almonds from the local bakery.

The bridge to Chissaux is under repair and closed until June 2019. Park in a picnic area off the main road and eat the croissants whilst we decide what to do. We walk to check out the bridge. There is no one about so we walk across it, little did we realise that it was lunchtime.
We quickly learn that the boat trips stopped last Sunday.

By the time we get back to the bridge, the workmen have started again and we can't cross. Undaunted, we decide to walk to the next bridge. We learn after a while that the next one is 3km away. A very helpful couple point us in the right direction and keep checking behind them that we are still there. There are great views of the chateau on the way back.

The assistant in the petrol station, yesterday, helpfully looked up the address of the nearest Casino supermarket. We want to return the gas bottle we bought in Dijon last March. Imagine the shock when we receive the princely sum of 1 euro! Rosie wasn't sure the girl was going to go to the trouble of completing the paperwork but it is better off in our pocket than theirs.
Drive through some lovely villages, one, called Paulmy, is the prettiest I've ever seen. Some early, pretty aires are ignored because we need to press on southwards. Our final destination is a Super U car park which is even too far to walk to the village.
