SNEZNIK.

Last night we thought that we were heading for Leipzig, today on the advice of the site owner we end up travelling to Dresden and beyond. Stopping first in Bad Schandau and bedding down in the Czech Republic. Bad Schandau is known as the unofficial capital of Saxony Switzerland. Nearby, Konigstein has a castle on a hill which has proved impregnable for 1,000 year's.

It's difficult to park so we shop in Aldi and enjoy lunch in their car park. The internet connection is not good because of the hills and trees so we pick a site from the book. And, because we're so close, we decide to call in on the Czech Republic.

Vignettes are required on the Czech motorway so we call in at a services. The office is staffed by a nasty woman and the place is closed for a tea break between 4:30 & 5:15. So, we take a chance and continue. Fortunately we don't see any cameras.

We end up in the middle of nowhere. I've keyed in the wrong details! Try again and find the site. Unfortunately, it only takes euro coins and Czech notes and coins. 5 euro pays for 5 hours so we rustle together that amount and try to leave. The barrier stays down. The phone number brings the couple who own the place. They offer to let us out or change our euro notes into coins if we want to stay. We choose the latter. They return with the coins and 4 half litres of Czech beer which the four of us drink. We chat for an hour until the husbands complains that he's hungry and they leave. The wife returns later with a bag of home grown tomatoes.

A German couple arrive later. We explain the situation with the cash but they are well prepared. It's just us, then? The guy knocks on our door later. A big dog is begging for food, is it ours? That's all we'd need!
