KOPERNICK HOF.

Today we bite the bullet and decide to fill the gas bottle. Use the motorway services because It's wide enough to let us take our time. And, we need it as it turns out! Couldn't get the pump to work so called on the help of the manager. It turns out that I couldn't establish a seal between the bottle and the G97erman adaptor. Once filled, I couldn't undo it without the help of a wrench. A supposedly simple task took 30 minutes. And, both hands were left bleeding in the process.

Our destination is Kopernick Hof in the east of Berlin. The area is run down but clean. The owner meets us and is ever so helpful. Walk to the train station. Paul buys the wrong tickets, we probably can travel throughout Germany for the 35 euro it costs. Leave the train at the remnants of the Wall in the east.

It's now full of graffiti. It's difficult to imagine how austere it must have been. Walk along it then rejoin the train and leave at Alexanderplatz. Rosie announces that it is the biggest Primark she's ever seen.

Back on the train to Friedrichstrasse. Call at McDonald's for coffee. It takes an age to come and then is very strong. So much for Rosie's comment that "you know what you get from McDonalds".

Walk to the Bundestag, formerly the Reichstag, and on to the Brandenburg Gate.

Back on a series of trains to the campsite. Enjoy a glass of wine, or two, before bed.
