No Trams, No Replacement Buses Either.

GOTHENBURG.
Another disturbed night; motorcycles, coversations and rattling flagpoles are the major causes. We catch the 9:50 ferry over to Lilla Bratton. The cost is £10 return each and the trip takes 10 minutes. The beach is OK but the sun doesn't shine so we don't bother with a swim. Catch the midday ferry back to the mainland.

Drive on to Gothenburg but pass no obvious shopping centre dedpite avoiding the motorways. Take s ferry which leaves immediately we board.
We find the parkrun venue easily enough. The campsite is full but there is a cheaper alternative further along the road but has fewer facilities. Try to buy tram tickets but learn that the line is down after a lorry crashed into the overhead wires. There may be a replacement bus eventually but not for at least an hour. Decide to walk it which takes an hour. It's a nice city with lots of shops and restaurants. So, naturally we push the boat out and have halloumi burgers from Burger King.
Also buy a bottle of wine in an off licence. SEK 80, about £7. We want to use the coins We've been collecting so count them out on the windowsill. We must like drunken beggars counting out our spoils.

Trams are still stopped so we walk back to the van. There's a bar at the bottle of the hill to our site so we enjoy a couple of beers in a bar ran by Turks before tackling the climb. Then reward ourselves with the bottle of wine when we reach the van at the top.
