ESBJERG.
Travel the couple of miles to the football ground after a breakfast of cereal. The car park is deserted but looks safe enough. We cycle down to the port, 90 DOM buys 2 return tickets to the island. We only have to wait 10 minutes and sail at 10:50.

First stop is the Tourist Information office. A very helpful guide shows us a cycle route around the island (about 15km long and 5km wide). We cycle along the beach on compacted sand, are passed by galloping horseriders and take lunch on a windsurfing stretch.

On towards the village in the south (Sonderho). We walk across the beach at low tide to see seals basking in the sun on the shore opposite. You have to zoom in to see them clearly. Note that neither Rosie nor me are in the photo, you may have confused the lumps of blubber.

Enjoy, if that's the correct term, 500ml of locally brewed beer. It's strength is 5.7% but costs £8.50!

Cycle the 13km back to Nordby and catch the 18:10 ferry back to the mainland. The port us packed with visitors to the Tall Ships event. We cycle back to the van to make dinner. A large hare sits close to the van and appears to watch enviously as we eat.
A firework display starts just as we're settling down to sleep. The colours are fabulous and the explosions appear to happen right next to the van.
