Leck Where We Are!

LECK.

TUESDAY.

Set off from the campsite after a 5km run. The heat and lack of fitness doesn't help. Stop for diesel just outside the town. The sign shows 1.229 when we arrive. It has changed to 1.199 when we leave. Naturally, I get charged the higher amount.

Replenish provisions at LIDL then stop across the road at Aldi. Rosie is convinced that Denmark will be expensive. We arrive in Leck just after 3pm. The site costs Euro 5 per day plus electric. The awning gets its first outing of the trip. However, the middle leg shown here should be taking the weight of the material by going across not down. Rectified after the photo.

We walk into town through a sliding gate in the fence. There are some lovely cottages on the way in.

We call at the only bar open in town. I order what I think is a beer and end up with a shandy. Still, probably better in the heat.

WEDNESDAY.

Yesterday, we learnt at the Tourist Information that we can swim at either a lake (north) or an open air pool (south). We opt for the latter and the overcast morning supports a bike ride. We arrive at Stadum at 11:30 only to find it opens at 14:00! The village only has the pool and a supermarket, not even a bar for a coffee. We cycle back to the car park and eat our packed lunch. By 1:30 we're bored so we pack up the van and head back to the pool. Euro 6 buys entrance for us both and a further 3 gets us coffee and liquorice.

Walk into town to get access to the internet, it doesn't work under the trees in the car park. Call at the bar for a couple of beers and rum and comes. Euro 21, how do the Germans afford to drink?
