ADINKERKE, DE PANNE.
A cloudy start to the day so we're in rush to leave the car park. Our destination is only 30 minutes away. We arrive at 11:30 and are parked quickly thereafter. The sun comes out tempting us to get the bikes down and set off for the beach, about 5km away. A bad move considering it's a bank holiday. The heavens open halfway and we get soaked. It eases off as we approach DePanne and stops by the time we reach the promenade. It's too windy to stop for long.

That's the end of the rain for the day, thankfully. We spend the afternoon sitting in the sun by the van in the campsite. After dinner, we stroll through the sand dunes for an hour. The signs show pictures of donkeys, horses and cattle but we see neither hide nor hair of them. The wild flowers are very pretty and the birdsong is uplifting, though.
