CAMPALTO, VENEZIA.

On the road by 8am to call at the supermarket for croissants and the toilet. We're there before it opes and we join a queue outside. Still plenty of time to get to the start. There are several Brits in the field. I'm holding on to 5th place until I take a wrong turn. Finish in 9th.

Breakfast then on to Venice, or rather to a campsite on the outskirts. A pleasant site on grass and under trees. We have lunch then venture out. The bus stop is opposite the camp and the bus comes roughly on time. 15 minutes journey and we arrive in Venice.

Walk through the side streets enjoying the shops and the sights, taking in the Rialto and St Marks Square.

It's tiring walking through the streets and over the bridges so we sit at a cafe next to the Grand Canal. A pint of beer and a Aperol Spritz cost 10 euro plus 2 euro for the pleasure of sitting down.

Back to the bus station but bothered a couple of times by men wanting charitable donations, one a monk collecting for world peace and the other an Italian collecting to stamp out drugs.

A final photo and we return to the campsite for our evening meal.
