ANCONA.
We rest up until 9am then decide to go to 10am mass. Afterwards, we look around the church, including the three sides of the house from Nazareth.
Breakfast is taken with a lovely backdrop of fields in the drop to the sea.

The campsite manager gave us a few leaflets covering the local area. We head for Camerano which offers underground caves. The walk from the car park is all uphill. Naturally, the caves are closed, not opening until 4pm.
Never mind, onto Agugliano for homemade ice cream. Except that I misinterpret the satnav and we end up in Castel d'Emilio which is lovely but has no ice cream.

On to Agugliano, where we find the gelataria with ease. Unfortunately, he's only open in the morning and we arrive after 2pm.

Giving up, we program the satnav to take us to the port despite being 2 hours early. As we approach, we spot a supermarket so stop for provisions. Packing the car, I notice two men eating ice cream cornets. We ask where they bought them and they direct us down a back street to a gelataria. Success at the third attempt and what success! We have 3 scoops each in a cornets and the total is 5 euro and It's definitely homemade. We sit outside and eat them. We watch a young guy buy a box full of different flavours. The owners scoops them then weighs them out at over a kilogram which costs 20 euro. A sweet tooth, perhaps?
Satiated, we head to check in with a spring in our step.

We're on the ferry by 6:30pm, two sail with only 15 minutes between them. Ours is the much quieter ferry so it's easy to drive on and turn around.
I watch them loading from the top deck. The back doors begin to close must as an Italian man arrives loaded with bags, it's 2 minutes past sailing time. After a short interlude, the doors reopen and he climbs aboard.

There is a singer in the lounge so we sit and listen to him with a drink.
