DOLE

(Unfotrunately, this is the outside pool, obviously closed until summer!)

Much more positive today. We’re told that there is a swimming pool in Gray, about 20 miles away. And, we learn that there is an Aire at the parkrun site. After some planning of the journey, we set off at 10:30 and arrive at 11:15. The pool opens to the public at 12:00 so not long to wait.

It’s amazing how something as simple as a shower, a swim and, in Paul’s case “only”, a shave can bring so much pleasure. The receptionist tells us that there is a laundrette in the local supermarket, so we can do our washing. Proving that it’s a small world, we meet a woman in the laundrette whose daughter attended Huddersfield University to study chemistry 25 years’ ago.

Unfortunately, it starts to rain which prevents us from walking around the village, sitting on a wide river. We head to Dole looking for the Aire but stumble across a campsite by accident We decide to stay overnight getting our first discount on the ACSI card, a whole euro 4! A good decision as the rain continues incessantly so were able to stay warm using their electricity and recharge our numerous gadgets.
